UNILAG secures NUC’s nod for 4 distance learning programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted the University of Lagos Distance Learning Institute (DLI) approval to begin four new programmes in the next academic session.

Folasade Ogunsola, the vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos, disclosed this when she said that the DLI was set to commence Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Bachelor of Science in Finance, Bachelor of Education in Guidance and Counselling, and Bachelor of Educational Administration programmes in the next academic session.

Ogunsola made this known while addressing newly admitted students of the DLI at the 2023/2024 blended matriculation ceremony of the institute held recently at the university.

Risikat Dauda, the director of the UNILAG DLI, presented the new enrolees to the vice-chancellor, and the students were sworn in by Olakunle Makinde, the acting registrar of the university.

The vice-chancellor commended the freshers for choosing the open distance learning form of education, describing it as the way of the future and charged them to be of good character in deed and in truth.

The Distance Learning Institute is the organ of the university that operates and coordinates the open and distance learning programmes.

It has an enhanced status as that of a faculty in the university. It has its management board and an academic board. It is empowered to formulate its policies, employ its staff and be responsible for academic programmes, and examinations, supervise its day-to-day affairs and generate funds for its operations.
