…As Otti flags off construction of 11km Mbala-Umunneochi Road

The Abia State government has announced plans for the establishment of three multi-billion naira agro industrial processing facilities across the state with Umunneochi among the beneficiaries.

Otti stated this while flagging off the construction of the 11.27- kilometre Mbala -Umuaku-Ngodo Road in Umunneochi Local Government Area of the state.

“Structured to radically transform the agricultural ecosystem in the state, the facility shall integrate productions, aggregation and processing of agro commodities for local and exports,” Otti said.

Otti said that Umunneochi occupies a unique place in the geography and socio-economic evolution of the state and the South East region in general.

He assured that the project would signpost the beginning of more to come in the area.

Otti informed that the Leru-Lekwesi-Lokpanta-Lokpaukwu road, which the people had requested for fixing had already been earmarked for reconstruction by his administration.

He directed the Commissioner for Works to go and inspect the Nmang Bridge in the area, which needs repairs.

The Governor thanked the people for their support to his administration and said that the success in the restoration of security in Umunneochi points to oneness among leaders.

“Our success in the restoration of security in this part, points to what is possible when we work in unity as leaders to solve the social and economic problems facing our communities.

“We may belong to different political linings and groups but the welfare of the good people of Umunneochi must never be sacrificed on the altar of petty partisan politics,” Otti stated.

Amaobi Ogah, member representing Isuikwuato /Umunneochi Federal Constituency and Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, in their various speeches, described the project as a unifying factor for the entire Umunneochi people and thanked Otti for coming to the rescue people.

Mathias Umeh, member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, and Chaka Chukwumerije, the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, in their separate remarks, noted that the Mbala-Umuaku-Ngodo road was strategic to the economy of the state and thanked the governor for his infrastructural revolution across the state.

Otumchere Oti, the Commissioner for Works, earlier in address, noted that the area is an agrarian community and produces different agricultural products in commercial quantities such as cashew, cassava, yam, black beans, among others.

He informed that the project has a contract period of 12 months, adding that provision has been made for culverts and drainages with street lights at built up areas.
