Businessman and politician, Umo Eno has been sworn in as the 5th elected governor of Akwa Ibom having won the governorship candidate on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held on March 18.
Umo Eno was sworn into office by the Chief Judge of the state, Ekaette Obot at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium in Uyo, the state capital.
The ceremony was watched by a capacity crowd which included the out gone governor, Udom Emmanuel and former deputy governor, Moses Ekpo as well as other top politicians.

Umo Eno, who hails from Nsit Ubium Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district of the state, was until his election, a member of the state executive council as commissioner for Lands and Water Resources.
Shortly before Umo Eno’s inauguration, the former governor Udom Emmanuel commissioned the official residence of the state chief Judge located within the high brow area of Uyo, the state capital.
Speaking at the occasion, Udom said he was delighted to provide a befitting residence for the state chief Judge to aid quick dispensation of justice without any hindrance.
He also.expressed the hope that the new governor would provide the Chief Judge with adequate security.
In her remarks, the Chief Judge thanked the former governor for the support given to the judiciary which she said had made her job easier.
He thanked the former governor for the official residence of the state chief Judge which she said had never existed since the creation of the state.
