Tunde Onakoya, Chess in Slums Founder, set to break Guiness World record

Tunde Onakoya, a professional chess player and founder of Chess in Slums Africa has said that he would attempt to break the Guiness World record for the longest Chess marathon.

He made the post on his X page where he said, “On the 17th of April 2024, I will attempt to break the Guiness World record for the longest Chess marathon in the heart of Times Square New York City for 58 hours without losing a game.

“Doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education.”

Onakoya has won many chess tournaments both locally and internationally and was ranked number 13 in Nigeria at a point

Chess in Slums Africa is a Non-Governmental Organization Onakoya founded to create opportunities and education for marginalized children through chess.
