Troops kill scores of bandits, sustain onslaught on terrorists in north

Nigerian troops have killed several armed bandits and destroyed their camp in the Dunya Forest area of Katsina State and sveral other states in the north, while also inflicting heavy casualties on terrorists .

John Enenche, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations (DMO), who disclosed this in Abuja said the Air Component of Operation Hadaran Daji killed no fewer than 17 bandits credible intelligence reports and confirmatory surveillance missions indicating that dozens of Ansaru terrorist group-linked armed bandits had established a camp at the location, which also housed scores of rustled cattle.

“Accordingly, the Air Component dispatched an appropriate force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships, which engaged the location in successive passes, destroying portions of the camp, including their storage facility, which was seen engulfed in flames”, he said.

The Coordinator also said troops of Operation Hadarin Daji and other subsidiary operations have sustained their operations in the North-west zone with series of clearance operations, ambushes and aerial patrols, which led to the neutralization of several bandits and arrest of their collaborators and informants in the last week.

Enenche disclosed that three suspected bandits were arrested by troops at Majafa village and arrested two suspected bandits’ collaborators in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

He added that troops apprehended a bandit informant in the same LGA, while troops of Operation Accord, while on night patrol at Yar Tasha village made contact with armed bandits killing 3 armed bandits.

For air operations, Enenche said the Air Component of Operation Thunder Strike killed several armed bandits in the Kwiambana Forest area of Kaduna State.
