Tolani Alausa resumes duty as Bayelsa Commissioner of Police

A new Commissioner of Police (CP) has been posted to Bayelsa State in keeping with the tradition of bringing a new police chief to supervise an election in a state.

Tolani Alausa, the new CP arrived on Tuesday, November 7, 2023) and has assumed duty as the 36th Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command.

Spokesman of the command, SP Asinim Butswat, disclosed this in a statement in Yenagoa.

He said: “The Bayelsa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public and the well-meaning individuals in the State that a new Commissioner of Police has been posted to the Command. He is CP Tolani Alausa, psc.

“The new Commissioner of Police takes over today. He is a seasoned Police officer with vast experience in Operations and Investigation.

“He has served in various Commands and Formations in various capacities. Until he was appointed the Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Command, he was the Commissioner of Police Administration, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“The Command by this announcement solicits the cooperation and partnership of the good and well-meaning people of Bayelsa State, to give the new Commissioner of Police the necessary support to discharge his duties of maintaining law and order in the State.

“The Commissioner of Police can be reached on GSM number 08033100926.”

It is not clear whether these changes ever made the police appeal neutral on election day, or whether citizens’ confidence has ever been boosted.
