President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday transmitted the 2026 statutory budget proposal of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to the Senate for consideration and approval.

The letter conveying the budget was read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio following the chamber’s return from a three-week recess held for budget defence sessions.

In separate correspondences, Tinubu also sought the Senate’s confirmation of several nominees for key federal appointments.

Among them is Magnus Abe, nominated as Chairman of the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), alongside two commissioner nominees for the commission.

The president also forwarded the nomination of Mainasara Illo as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre.

The nomination was referred to the Senate Committees on Narcotics and Drugs, as well as Sports.

Similarly, Francis Ifeanyi Asogwa was nominated as a federal commissioner representing the South-East and his confirmation request was referred to the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.

Tinubu further asked the Senate to confirm two nominees to the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission: Amina Gamawa from Bauchi State and Abdullahi Murktar from Kaduna State.

Their nominations were referred to the appropriate committees for screening.
