Tinubu sets up committee to overhaul police

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, inaugurated a committee to overhaul the Nigeria Police force.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state stated this while briefing journalists after the meeting of the Nigeria Council on Police presided over by the President.

The committee which is made up of the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam, also has the Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser, Solomon Arase, the Chairman of Police Service Commission and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum.

He disclosed that the committee will work to ensure that ” the Nigeria Police is reformed”

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state in his contributions, stated that some of the ideas that will be looked at include the issues of funding for the police, state policing, among other.

It will be recalled that the Council had earlier at the meeting confirmed Kayode Egbetokun as the Inspector General of Police
