President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met with the nation’s security Chiefs, during which he revealed plans to embark on massive reforms that will rejig the country’s security architecture.
National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno, while briefing State House Journalists after the Security Council meeting, assured that the President is “determined to reverse misfortunes of insecurity and turn the tide in our favour”.
“As far he is concerned, this country should not be on its knees struggling whie countries are working and achieving greater heights. The president has resolved that in moving this country forward, he needs the security agencies to redouble their efforts,” he said.
Monguno said the President has made it clear to the Security Chiefs that he will not accept the situation in which our fortunes keep declining.
Monguno revealed that the President informed the Service Chiefs that “ he is going to embark on a lot of reforms in terms of our security architecture, he will take a closer look at our misfortunes in the maritime domain focusing particularly on the issues of oil theft”.
The NSA disclosed that the President had expressed his displeasures over the level of insecurity in the country with an assurance that “ he is not going to tolerate it anymore”.

“Wherever the problem is coming from, it must be crushed as soon as possible,” he said.
“His own trajectory is that security has to be coordinated, whether it is a basket situation, it must be a clearing house.
The President also charged the agencies to work together to achieve on purpose, adding that “Working at cross purposes and colliding with each other, is not something that he will condone.
“He has made it clear that all the security agencies must comply with the demands of coordination, the demand of frequent consultation and also timely reports which must be acted on.
He disclosed that the President has mandated the security agencies to come up with a blueprint.
“As far as he knows, he doesn’t have the luxury of time and whatever changes will be made, have to done as soon as possible,” Monguno said.
“The President also has decided that whatever ventures the armed forces are going to engaged in, they must carry along those operatives in the theatre, they must be well fed, well catered for, motivated and given all that they require.
“The President has said he will do whaterver that is within his powers to enable to enable the operational elements but the intelligent agencies must also make their work easier by providing the type of intelligence that they require to carryout their assignment.”
Those present at the meeting include Chief of Defense Staff, Lucky Irabor, the Chief of Army Staff, Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Awwal Gambo; and the Chief of Air Staff, Isiaka Amao,
Others include the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba, the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, Director-General of the Department of State Service(DSS), Yusuf Bichi; the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Rufai Abubakar.
