President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a political support group aligned with his administration, to distribute rice to citizens across the country during the ongoing fasting seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
The directive was disclosed by Hope Uzodinma, Director-General of the group and Governor of Imo State, in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to the statement, the distribution exercise is intended to support families during a period observed by both Muslims and Christians for fasting, prayer, and reflection.
Uzodinma said the initiative was aimed at strengthening national unity and demonstrating compassion during a season of shared spiritual significance.
“Ramadan and Lent are seasons that remind us of sacrifice, charity, and care for one another.
Through this distribution, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will ensure that families across Nigeria feel the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period.
“Under the directive, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will coordinate the distribution through their nationwide grassroots network to ensure that families across Nigeria benefit from the intervention during this holy season when both Muslims and Christians are fasting,” the statement said.
The group said the distribution would be coordinated through its network across states to ensure that households in different parts of the country benefit from the intervention.
