President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of Military personnel as he inaugurated the newly constructed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks in Abuja.
He made the declaration on Thursday during the Military Barracks inauguration ceremony and other newly-constructed facilities under the Nigerian Army Special Projects in Abuja.
The president also lauded the Nigerian Armed Forces as the nation’s heroes, emphasising their unparalleled dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation.

“You are our heroes, and I thank you for what you have been doing for this country,” Tinubu stated, emphasising the remarkable service of the Military to Nigeria.
President Tinubu underscored his administration’s priority on the welfare of Military personnel, noting that the newly inaugurated Barracks aligns with the Government’s dedication to enhancing troops well-being.
“What you are doing for Nigeria is remarkable. The only way to appreciate this is to continue to show support to the men and women in uniform,” he said.
The president stressed that adequate support and welfare provisions are crucial for maintaining morale and ensuring operational success.
“Knowing that the federal government is always ready to provide what the troops need is essential for winning battles”, Tinubu added.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks, conceptualised by Philip Eromosele and commenced on November 26, 2022, aims to address the acute housing shortage faced by military personnel in Abuja.
The project, initially funded by Taoreed Lagbaja, the late Chief of Army Staff, was completed under Olufemi Oluyede, the current Chief of Army Staff, on January 9, 2025.
The Barracks, according to Olayede, boasts of state-of-the-art accommodations, including 16 Major Generals Quarters, 34 Brigadier Generals Quarters, 60 Colonels Flats, 60 Lieutenant-Colonels Flats, 180 Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Flats, and 264 Corporal-and-Below Flats.
“Additional facilities include worship centers, sports amenities, a power house, and a secure perimeter fence with three entrance gates”, he stated.

The inauguration ceremony drew some dignitaries, including Nuhu Ribadu;, National Security Adviser; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; Badaru Abubakar; Minister of Defence, Barau Jibrin; Deputy Senate President; Tajudeen Abbas; Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Chairmen of Senate and House Committees on Defence, Ahmed Lawan and AbdulAziz Yar’adua, respectively.
Also in attendance were the Service Chiefs, Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector General of Police; Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, Director General of the Department of State Services; Ola Olukoyede, EFCC Chairman and a Representative of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
Earlier in the day, President Tinubu performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Armed Forces Complex behind Lungi Barracks in Asokoro, Abuja.
Olayede stated that the facility would further enhance the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
According to CoAS, the inauguration of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks marks a significant milestone in addressing the welfare challenges of Nigerian Military personnel while reinforcing the Government’s commitment to supporting the nation’s Armed Forces.
