…Meets British Prime Minister Kier Starmer, today
President Bola Tinubu and King Charles, on Wednesday held interfaith dialogue, as part of efforts to strengthen religious harmony in the country.
The dialogue took place at the Vicar’s Hall, Windsor Castle on the sideline of the ongoing state visit by President Bola Tinubu
Recall that President Donald Trump had in November 2025, designated Nigeria as a ” country of particular concern”, following allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria.
The designation had followed complaints by some Christian communities in Nigeria, especially within the Middle belt region, as a result of the ceaseless attacks by bandits who kidnap people for ransom
The attacks had been linked to both the ISWAP and Boko Haram groups operating in the northern parts of Nigeria, as well as some Fulani cattle grazers, in search of greener pastures for their cows
Critics of the Donald Trump’s actions however said the attacks had not been targeted at Christians alone, as both Muslims and traditional religious practitioners were not spared.
But the interfaith dialogue which was attended by President Tinubu and his wife, Remi Tinubu, a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG and other top religious and government officials, demonstrated the deep relationship and harmony between Christians and Muslims in Nigeria.
President Tinubu, while speaking at a colorful reception for the Nigerian delegation, noted that Nigeria is carrying “enormous responsibility to help safeguard the West Africa’s regional stability.
“As one of the largest nations within the Commonwealth, Nigeria looks forward to contributing constructively to the continued growth and vitality of this global community.
Our West African region faces complex terrorism challenges with roots in the Sahel.
” Nigeria carries an enormous responsibility to help safeguard regional stability. In confronting these threats, partnership with the United Kingdom remains essential and I look forward to my meeting with Prime Minister Kier Starmer tomorrow.

The President however assured his host that Nigeria is approaching “the future with hope and confidence”, adding that” We are a nation of diverse and vibrant people, of young people dreaming big, of entrepreneurs with a global outlook, and of a hopeful people determined to realise their full potential.
He also noted that Nigeria and the United Kingdom have shared more than just history; adding that the ” two nations share a vision of progress and resilience”.
“Your Majesty, I am confident that the friendship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom will continue to grow.”
