President Bola Tinubu has condoled with the families of six soldiers who lost their lives in a terrorist attack on the Nigerian Army base in Sabon Gida, Damboa, Borno State Saturday.
In a statement issued on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, Tinubu praised the bravery of the fallen soldiers, calling their sacrifice a cornerstone of national security.
“Their sacrifice in defending our nation will forever be honoured and remembered,” Tinubu said, emphasising the nation’s eternal gratitude for their dedication.

The president also lauded the Nigerian Armed Forces for their rapid and decisive response to the attack. He highlighted the effectiveness of the air component’s retaliatory strikes, describing the military’s action as a demonstration of its readiness to confront and neutralise threats to national security.
“This resolute action by the Army demonstrates the capability and readiness of our military to confront and defeat threats to our nation’s security,” he affirmed.
The incident has drawn renewed attention to the persistent challenges of insecurity in the region, as well as the sacrifices made by the armed forces in ensuring peace and stability across Nigeria.
