Tinubu extends yuletide free train ride to January 7

President Bola Tinubu has announced a three-day free Yuletide train service extension. Initially scheduled to conclude on January 4th, the trains will remain operational until Sunday, January 7th.

This will offer more Nigerians a chance to return home comfortably and conveniently.

This decision comes after a successful first leg of the initiative, with over 163,000 Nigerians taking advantage of the free rides.

Recognizing the continued travel needs of many, President Tinubu directed the extension to ensure everyone can utilize this convenient and cost-effective travel option.

“The joy of the festive season shouldn’t end with New Year’s Day,” remarked Transportation Minister Senator Ahmed Alkali in a statement. “By extending the free train service, we hope to ease the burden of transportation costs and allow more Nigerians to reunite with loved ones or return to their workplaces after the holidays.”

The extension applies to all three routes currently in operation by the Nigerian Railway Corporation:

Lagos-Ibadan
Warri-Itakpe
Abuja-Kaduna
Passengers are encouraged to take full advantage of this unique opportunity, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting the welfare and well-being of its citizens.

Whether returning home, visiting family, or simply enjoying a scenic train journey, this extension offers a safe, reliable, and cost-free way to travel.
