President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate urging them to promptly approve the ₦2.17 trillion 2023 supplementary budget.
During the plenary on Tuesday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read out Tinubu’s letter, in which he requested the Senate’s expeditious approval to fund urgent national issues.

The urgent national issues include ₦N605 billion for security and national defense to sustain security gains, ₦200 billion for the supply of agricultural production, ₦N210 billion for wage awards recently approved for Nigerian workers covering the period from September to December, and N400b of the fund reserved for cash transfer to vulnerable and poor Nigerians for the period October and November, among others.
