The National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Taraba State chapter, Comrade Bajison Wakili Danjuma on Tuesday disclose that the Union has disbursed over N250 million naira to families of their dead members and retirees as part of social welfare.
Danjuma who stated this during a press conference in Jalingo hinted that the Union under his watch purchased a brand new Hilux, a Toyota Hummer Bus, completion of three star hotel and event centre for the to generate income for members.
He said as a result of the two times increment of salaries of local government workers and implementation of minimum wage by the state governor Agbu Kefas, “NULGE in Taraba state has endorsed the governor for second term come 2027 governorship election.
“Since I came on board, i have made it a point of duty that every month, the Union disbursed funds to the families of our diseased members and retirees.
We usually get the details of our deceased members through Chairmen of our various local government areas” he said.
He added that the administration of governor Kefas effort towards local government workers have changed their fortunes and members are now proud to belong to NULGE.
“Local Government workers in Taraba state are one of the most paid employees in Nigeria, we all know that since the governor came on board, he has increased our minimum wage twice.
This increment has greatly improved the living conditions of our workers at the grassroot who in past find it difficult to pay their children’s school fees ” he added.
He stressed that NULGE in Taraba state has endorsed governor Agbu Kefas for second term come 2027.
“With what he has done, we have unanimously threw our weight behind his second term bid come next year” he noted.
He pleased with the governor to upset the five months salary arrears owned to the worker by the previous administration.
