Suspend me and see ‘wahala’, Wike dares PDP

What I will do if my successor turns against me – Wike

Embattled but defeated presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has dared his party to suspend him.

He spoke at a media parley in Port Harcourt Friday.

He rejected suggestions that his recalcitrant and belligerent approach to the matter could earn him suspension on grounds of jeopardising the chances of the PDP in the upcoming elections.

He replied thus: “Suspend me? Will it not be more wahala for them? Even this one we have is wahala and they want to add more? Ok, let them suspend me today, today and see.”

He accused the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, of collecting N1bn from a presidential aspirant and that the money changed hands in Lagos before the primaries.

He threatened to name the aspirant and the go-between who arranged it and handed the money. Wike said the primaries were conducted with an open bias for an aspirant and that Ayu took over as campaign king for Atiku, calling aspirants to step down for Atiku.

He also said allowing Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State to come back after everyone has spoken to announce he had stepped down and to campaign for Atiku was totally illegal. He said he had to restrain himself from scattering the place and stopping the voting process.

He also revealed that Ayu was so attached to Atiku because a deal had been struck for Ayu to become the next Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) while others have agreed to be given Senate presidency and speaker, leaving him and his camp out.

He said there were two shocking moments that happened in the PDP. “Some of the same governors that agreed in Asaba that power must shift to the south changed to support that presidential aspirants can come from anywhere. They now support the chairman to come from the north,” he said.

According to him, the crisis was sowed when they plotted to zone only party offices, not elective positions. “I said imagine, how can you zone only party offices? I warned them. That is the cause of the crisis.”

He recalled that the Ike Ekweremadu committee zoned 2019 presidency to the north, and that this was why no serious person from the south contested the primaries. “He pumped Rivers money to support the north.”

The second shock he mentioned was not zoning the presidency. “They said presidency should not be zoned, that it should be left open to get the best candidate.”

He said this was how those who thought they were smart planted crisis that is rocking the party now. He revealed how Ayu never allowed his phone to rest when he wanted to become party chairman.

Wike however, gave recipe of how to solve the PDP crisis and win the 2023 election because Nigerians were waiting for change of power in Aso Rock.
