Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has warned traditional leaders to stay away from partisan politics and focus on their responsibilities and duties.

The governor gave the warning during the distribution of the 156 new vehicles to the traditional leaders across the State, which was held at the Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu square, inside government house.

He said that the distribution of the vehicles was part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen grassroots governance and community engagement.

He further said that the initiative was designed to improve their mobility, expand outreach, and enable them to effectively discharge their responsibilities within their domains and to understand the need of their people and respond effectively.

The governor also discouraged the unnecessary traveling of the traditional leaders wether within or outside the country, official permission must be optain for any of their travels.

“We are investing in your welfare to improve salaries, better living conditions and the construction of befitting palaces so that you can focus on your primary responsibilities in serving your people and us which you have been inherited from your forefathers”, he said.

He urged the traditional leaders to be holding regular meeting and also to collaborate with the local government chairmen, security agencies, stakeholders and members of the communities in order to maintain peace across the State.

“Avoid partisan politics, avoid partisan politics, avoid partisan politics and I called for fairness, justice and dignities in your dailies. We are aware of the commendable efforts that some of you are already making, we received regular report and we are okay with that”, he warned.

He added that the support would be sustained across both long-established and newly created emirates, chiefdoms, and districts to ensure inclusive governance in line with the state’s development agenda.

The governor expressed his appreciation to the traditional leaders for the conferment of different traditional tittles across the various emirates and chiefdom.
