Mudashiru Obasa, the ousted speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, is currently in a strategic meeting with Mojisola Meranda, his successor, Lawal Alade Pedro, the Lagos State attorney general, Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, and 38 lawmakers at the assembly garden. The meeting comes ahead of the plenary session scheduled for later this afternoon.
While the agenda remains undisclosed, it is believed to be connected to last week’s turmoil in the assembly.

The crisis escalated when Obasa stormed the assembly complex despite his impeachment by a majority of lawmakers and held a controversial plenary session with four lawmakers.
Amid ongoing political manoeuvring, there are indications that Meranda may step down following interventions by the APC leadership.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has deployed officers to the assembly complex to maintain security and prevent any disruption by miscreants or political thugs.
