“SON as a standard enforcement organization, under my watch, is committed to working with your company to ensure that your products which have become household brands in the country, and beyond continue to gain more share of the global lubricant market. The Agency is aware of the huge investment which your company is making geared at expanding your operations, as well as the tremendous job value of the investment”, the DG noted.

Commenting on some of the initiatives conceived by the agency aimed at promoting quality assurance in the country, Farouk revealed the Agency under his leadership will be introducing the use of a ‘marker’ by companies involved in the manufacturing of products, as well as individuals involved in the importation of products into the country.

According to him, the introduction of the marker will enable the Agency, monitor the quality of each of the products manufactured by local companies, and also those brought into the country by various importers, in order to ensure that they met the specified standards.

He also disclosed that the Agency legal department will be collaborating with the company to discuss areas of partnership that will ensure that its products are fully protected within and outside the country.

“Other thing that we are doing is the reviving of the Public Relations Department of the Agency. Under this program, we have designed a television program which is geared at encouraging companies like yours can use to showcase the quality of your products.

Speaking address earlier, chairman of Ammasco International Limited, Mustapha Ado Mohammed, thanked the SON`s delegation for the visit which he noted was an indication of the significance which the organization attaches to the contributions which the company is making to Nigerian Industrial Development.

Mustapha expressed delight that the company which commenced operation 14 years ago with 45 staff has since grown to become one of the biggest indigenous players in Lube Sector providing employment to over 2350 work staff across the country.

He revealed that the company has also diversified into manufacturing of packaging materials, plastic, and recirculating as part of the strategy aimed at ensuring a streamless production of its products.

The chairman, however, uses the occasion of the visit to appeal to the Federal Government to find a way of address the issue of the scarcity of forex which according to him, is making it difficult for the companies, such as Ammasco to acquire raw material needed for production.

Mustapha also appealed to the SON to also address the issue of cloning of local branded products by Counterfeiters, a development that is becoming a major problem in the country.
