Soludo demands private partnership in Anambra, inaugurates solar street lighting

Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has inaugurated a 400-unit solar street lights in Ndiowu Community, Orumba North Local Government Area of the State.

The people of Agbata/Igweakpu/Aboruhuana villagers, who are the beneficiaries of the project, however commended Chibueze Eugene-Ike, a young philanthropist for assisting in developmental efforts of the State Government.

Earlier, Eugene-Ike, who also supported his Community with the payment of electricity bills being owed or years and undertaking of road rehabilitation, appealed to the governor to construct an age- long neglected link road by his predecessors from Oko Community to Agbata Road, Ndiowu and Ufuma Communities.

According to him, the agrarian Ndiowu Community, particularly the three villages of the town, have suffered untold hardship, especially during the rainy season to move their produce to markets in the neighbouring Communities.

Calling for Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) at the event, Soludo said that the State Government alone would not be able to meet the developmental challenges, but called for quality partnership between the Government and the Private Sector.

The governor, who assured the Community of State Government’s co-operation on the delivery of road project, asked Eugene-Ike to work out details with the State Commissioner for Works.

“Yes, fair enough, you said you have discussed with the Commissioner for Works, we will know what you are doing about in partnership with the State Government. We appreciate this Public-Private Partnership because the Government alone cannot meet our model developmental challenges needed in the state”, he said.

He said that 95% of road constructions in the State would need the support of private individuals and communities to move with speed.

“We are, therefore calling for all Anambra citizens’ efforts. We are noted for our communal development traits before the coming of the White men to Igboland,”

According to him, many road projects built by private individuals have been inaugurated recently in many communities of the state.

Soludo noted that his administration had so far done about 700 kilometres of road projects across the 21 Local Government Areas, some of which had been asphalted.

“We are moving towards regenerating Anambra to a new state of our dream, and like I said, we cannot do it alone, it will take the partnership of all of us”, he added.
