Security: Kogi vigilantes rescue 134 victims kidnapped

Vigilantes in Kogi State rescued 134 individuals who had been kidnapped from different areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to a statement by Onogwu Muhammed, the chief press secretary to the Governor of Kogi State, these individuals were rescued during recent operations conducted by the Kogi vigilantes in state forests and certain parts of Nasarawa State.

The vigilantes successfully raided kidnappers’ hideouts in the Odullo forest of Kogi and Sardauna in Nasarawa State, rescuing victims who had been abducted from various locations. The victims, who were taken from Abaji, Kuje, Kwali in FCT, and Toto council area in Nasarawa, were reunited with their families in their respective LGAs.

Dauda Aliyu, the chairman of Kogi/Koton Karfe local government area, expressed his admiration for the vigilantes’ bravery and thanked the state government for their support to the security forces. The operation involved 92 vigilant individuals and received support from Governor Yahaya Bello, who has been instrumental in the state’s fight against insecurity.

Also, Jerry Omodara (retd), Kogi State Security Adviser, commended the vigilantes and other security agencies for their dedication in combating crime both within and beyond the state.

He said the Governor Yahaya Bello administration would continue to make Kogi State uninhabitable for criminals, reiterating the Governor’s commitment to making Kogi the safest state in Nigeria.
