Lagos State’s Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a major expansion of the Red Line Rail Service operations starting today. He made this known via a post on X on Sunday.

“Starting tomorrow, the Red Line Rail Service will expand its capacity, offering five mornings and four evening trips daily, up from two morning trips,” the governor announced in his tweet.

The route connects Agbado to Oyingbo, with trains completing the journey in 50 minutes. According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, passengers will experience “reduced waiting times of two minutes at each station,” making commutes more efficient.

The governor’s announcement also mentioned plans to add three new train sets to the line, though specific delivery dates were not provided. “The arrival of three new train sets will further boost the Red Line’s capacity,” he stated.

The Red Line is part of Lagos’ public transportation system, designed to offer residents an alternative to road travel. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasised its significance, stating, “The Red Line isn’t just a train service—it’s a game-changer for commuting in Lagos.”

“We are building a city where connectivity drives economic growth and improves the quality of life for all residents,” he added.
