Sanwo-Olu commended over handling of COVID-19 challenge in Lagos

National president of Movement for a Better Lagos, Ibrahim Ekundina, has commended the Lagos State governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, describing him as God-sent.

Ekundina, who is a human rights activist, in a statement in Lagos at the weekend, said: “Having critically studied his approach towards handling the deadly disease code-named COVID-19, we are convinced that his method of handling the dreaded monster has saved the state as well as the whole nation from recording more fatalities than what we are having now.”

According to Ekundina, “The alien disease is, to be precise, an unconventional war unleashed on the whole world and the way Sanwo-Olu is tackling it with unconventional methods is a testimony of preparedness for eventuality by a well organised administrator.”

Ekundina, who notes that anything that affects Lagos will also have a negative implication on the whole country and beyond, said, “This is so because of its location as a major entry point to the country”, adding that, “against this background, the governor deserves more support to fight and win the monster for the benefit of all.”

Sanwo-Olu’s emergency plans beforehand, according to him, prevented the migrant disease from travelling fast into the hinterland, wondering, what could have happened to the country if he had not weakened its movement from the point of entry.

“The governor’s performance must have informed the assessment of the World Health Organisation (WHO), and the United Nation (UN), that Lagos has done well in the handling of the monster known as COVID-19,” Ekundina submitted.

While also commending the governor for the palliative arrangement for the residents, the activist therefore, enjoined the residents to reciprocate the good gesture by staying indoors and observing all the preventive rules spelt out by the authorities towards conquering the disease.
