Road crash claims 75 persons, injured 585 in 11 months, says Nasarawa FRSC

FRSC deploys 950 personnel, equipment for Christmas, New Year celebrations in Kwara

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Nasarawa State, Ahmed Mohammed has said that the command recorded 289 road accidents from January to November 2020.

Mohammed who disclosed this in Lafia said, out of the 289 incidences, 75 persons lost their lives, while 585 sustained various degrees of injuries.

He said, according to World Health report revealed that about 1.25 million people died globally in every year as a result of road traffic crashes while 20- 50 million people suffer various degrees of injuries.

According to Ahmed, drivers are critical in the road transport business and advised them to desist from over-speeding, dangerous over-taking, and use of fake tires which could lead them to an untimely death.

The Sector Commander appealed to all relevant Stakeholders in the state to work towards preventing road traffic crashes during the Yuletide period.

Commenting, the State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Philip Dada, who was represented by the Director of Road Traffic, Victor Iyah, attributed 90% of road accidents to human factors and advised motorists to be more conscious of the ember month period.

He said Nasarawa State Government has put in place measures to ensure the safety of lives and properties and called on all stakeholders to contribute their quota to complement the effort of the government to bring safety on the road.
