Reps ask FG to improve security at airports

Reps speakership aspirants forge alliance with Betara as APC tips Abass/Kalu

The House of Representatives has called on the federal government to ensure more security at the airport to protect air travellers and other airport users in the country.

This resolution followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Jimoh Olajide from Lagos at plenary on Monday.

Moving the motion, Olajide made reference to the commotion caused by a supposed passenger on Friday, March 31 2023 that breached the peace and safety of travellers on the flight which had to be held for about 3 hours before the situation was brought under control.

He said there is a need for the government to ensure the security of all travellers at all times while calling for the deployment of technology to improve the level of security at the nation’s airports.

The lawmaker also called on other relevant agencies in the Aviation sector to ensure the safety of travellers and that people are properly screened before they board flights.
