Olakunle Rafiu, the Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has charged members of the Corps to accord maximum respect to all camp officials, participate actively in camp activities, as well as ensure a high level of discipline, decorum and patriotism to reciprocate the Government’s investment in the Scheme.

Rafiu, a Brigadier-General, made the call while addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps members currently undergoing the three-week orientation exercise at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Okada in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

He also advised the members to desist from travelling without authorisation during the service year in order to prevent avoidable dangers on the highway.

The Director General further urged them to take responsibility for their personal security by being vigilant at their places of primary assignment as well as avoiding night journeys.

“Abstain from social vices such as cultism, cyber crimes, thuggery and other negative acts that could jeopardise your personal safety.

“Always get correct information, and establish facts before circulating the same on social media platforms

“Network strategically among yourselves and most especially in your respective host Communities”, he admonished them, he advised.

Nafiu, however, celebrated Corps members whose birthdays coincided with the visit by presenting them with cake.

The NYSC boss also appreciated the efforts of various camp groups by distributing tokens to the cultural Troupe, Band, Marshall arts, Quarter guard, Chair ladies, overall parade Commander, as well as the three Corps Camp Directors.

Earlier, Ifeoma Frances Ben-Ushie, Edo State Coordinator of NYSC, informed the Director-General that Corps members are in high spirits, disciplined, well-behaved and participating actively in all camp activities.

Ben-Ushie, who appreciated management for providing the enabling environment, expressed her profound gratitude to the Director-General for the very important visit.
