…says over 400,000 Nigerians vie for 50,000 slots

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have announced a two-week extension for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 constables, citing overwhelming response and uneven participation across states.

The application portal, initially opened on 15 December 2025, will now close on 8 February 2026.

According to the PSC, over 400,000 applications have already been submitted.

“A review of the submissions revealed a significant disparity in participation: while states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high application numbers, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra lagged behind,, the Commission said.

The extension, the PSC said, is intended to encourage participation and ensure that all states are fairly represented in the recruitment process.

Eligible Nigerians, particularly from states with lower application rates, are urged to complete their applications through the official portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

A statement by Torty Njoku Kalu, PSC Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, appealed to state governments, local councils, community leaders, religious groups, and sociocultural organisations to mobilize citizens and raise awareness about the opportunity.

“The PSC and NPF remain committed to a transparent and merit-based recruitment process that provides equal opportunity for all Nigerians,” the statement read.
