National Coordinator, All Workers Convergence (AWC), Andrew Emelieze on Tuesday urged Nigerians to stop expressing their grievances on the Internet or social media whenever their rights are being tampered with.
Emelieze gave the advice when he led a protest organized by some pressure groups and organizations in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Addressing journalists during the protest which was taken to some areas in Ibadan on Tuesday, he said that the protest was necessitated due to the increments in petroleum price and electricity tariff.
While calling on Nigerians to come out and speak against all forms of oppression instead of expressing their grievances on social media said “it is high time the masses come out to protest against the price of petroleum and electricity tariff that was recently increased”.

He said the Nigerian government is torturing the citizens with the new increments and that “was why the protesting activists to take to the streets to express their grievances.
According to him, we are here today with Nigerian students, we are here today to say no to high increment, we are here today say no to fuel and electricity tariff increments. We are here to say no to bad governance.
“We cannot continue to mortgage our future. Enough is enough. The Nigerian government is torturing us and that is why we are saying that this one must stop.
“And we are giving them an ultimatum, by the special grace of God, no matter the negotiation they will have with Trade Union Congress, Nigeria Labour Congress, we are giving them an ultimatum that if they failed to do the needful we will embark on sit at home.
“If they failed to bring down the price of petroleum and electricity tariff, we are calling on all Nigerians that by Monday we will start to observe sit at home.
“Let everybody sit at home, markets would be shut down, schools that are no longer in session will also be shut down. Every other would be shut down from Monday if they failed to revert the price of petroleum and electricity tariffs.
