Prioritise good governance in Taraba or step aside, Group tells Kefas

A Political Group known as Taraba State All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Vanguard, has Called on Governor Agbu Kefas to prioritise good governance or step aside to enable the people of the State get a leader that will provide them with a good leadership direction

The Group, in a press release issued by Idris Ayuba, State Chairman, APC Youth Vanguard Taraba State and made available to Journalists in Jalingo, lamented that since the removal of fuel subsidies, the State had received a minimum of ₦5 billion monthly from the Federation Account, amounting to over ₦110 billion in total allocations over the past 22 months.

Idris added that the State’s Internally Generated Revenue had seen a remarkable increase from ₦700 million to ₦2 billion monthly, contributing an extra ₦33 billion to the treasury of the State, bringing the total State earnings to approximately ₦393 billion in less than two years.

“However, despite these substantial inflows, it is concerning to note that the government has borrowed over ₦250 million during this same period. The fundamental question arises: what has been accomplished with these resources? In defense of the administration against allegations of corruption, the state’s media commissioner has cited various renovation projects.

“However, it is disheartening that no notable development initiatives have been initiated beyond these renovations. We must ask: does the state government lack the capacity to launch significant development projects? While neighboring states are advancing in their developmental strides, Taraba State appears to be prioritising luxury expenditures over essential infrastructure and public services

“In light of these observations, the APC Youth Vanguard calls upon His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas to step aside if he is unable to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in his oath of office. The citizens of Taraba State deserve leadership that prioritizes development, transparency, and accountability”, he stressed

Wondering why Governor Agbu Kefas had maintained a cordial relationship with the neighboUring governors of Adamawa and Gombe States but could not emulate their giant developmental strides. The Group, however, urged the governor to take immediate action in addressing those concerns or bow out for a competent leader to mount his seat
