A widespread power outage on Saturday afternoon has sparked concerns among Nigerians about a possible national grid collapse.
The outage, which occurred around 1:56 pm, led many to speculate about the state of the country’s national grid.
Twitter users took to their account to express worries about a potential grid failure.

“The way this light went off ehn, hope it’s not National Grid? Who get light right now?” @lollypeezle tweeted.
Another user, @Mrlekan213, added, “National grid done fall again?”
While @47kasz said, “Abeg who get light right now??? Abi it’s national grid.”
Although the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has not reported a grid collapse, the outage has reignited conversations about the reliability of Nigeria’s power supply.
The incident underscores the fragility of the grid, which recorded 12 collapses in 2024.
