The Borno Police Command has confirmed that investigations have commenced to ascertain the cause of three children found dead in their father’s car.
Days after raising public alarm over his missing children, Zannah Jaridama, a resident of Mafa local government area of Borno state, found the lifeless bodies of his two children and that of his neighbour in his car boot
Confirming the incident in a statement made available to our correspondent on Friday, the Public Relations Officer of the Borno state police command, ASP Nahum Daso, said the discovery was made in the early hours of Thursday
He said, “On 23rd September, 2025, at about 1400hrs, one Baba Zannah Jaridama ‘m’ of Zannari Ali Ngoshe Area, Mafa LGA, and his neighbour Muhammad Bukar ‘m’ of the same address, reported at Kaleri Police Outpost of missing children.

He listed their names to include “Anwar Baba Zannah ‘m’, 3 years old, Mama Baba Zannah ‘f’, 1 year 5 months old and, Ahmed Muhammad ‘m’, 5 years old”
“Following initial investigations and circulation of information to all police formations, the whereabouts of the children remained unknown”, he added.
Daso, however, said on 24th September, 2025, at about 1030hrs, the complainant, Baba Zannah Jaridama, returned to Kaleri Outpost and reported that the corpses of the missing children were discovered inside his Honda Civic car, where it was parked
“Police operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victims to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), where a medical doctor confirmed them dead”
“The corpses have since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy”, he said
He noted that the state Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, has ordered a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.

“The Command urges members of the public to remain calm and continue to cooperate with the Police by providing credible and timely information”, Daso said
Meanwhile, our Correspondent gathered that in a recent video posted on Facebook, Jaridama raised the public alarm of the missing children, pleading for prayers and help
Subsequently, he made another emotional plea, offering to surrender himself in exchange for the lives of his children.
He said, “It is me they are after, not my children. Please, for God’s sake, spare their lives. I am ready to give myself up, even to death, so that these innocent children can continue to live.”
