The Plateau State Police Command has announced additional security deployments within the Jos–Bukuru metropolis to ensure the safety of lives and property during the New Year celebrations.
In a statement by Emmanuel Adesina, the Commissioner of Police Plateau state command, made available to journalists on Wednesday in Jos through Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, said the proactive measures were aimed at preventing criminal elements from taking advantage of the festive period to disrupt peace and public order across the state.

“As part of our responsibility to protect lives and property, we have strengthened security deployments across strategic locations within the Jos–Bukuru metropolis,” Adesina said stressing that the move was to guarantee a peaceful celebration.
The police also placed a temporary ban on the operation of commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, within the Jos–Bukuru metropolis from 4:00pm on December 31, 2025, to 6:00am on January 2, 2026, while the existing ban on commercial motorcycles remains in force.
According to the Commissioner of Police, “these measures are purely for security reasons and are not intended to infringe on the fundamental rights of any individual or group”.
He added that tye public cooperation was crucial to achieving the desired peace.
He advised residents to remain vigilant and avoid locations or activities that could expose them to attacks by unscrupulous elements during and after the celebrations.
Adesina warned that violators of the ban would be arrested and prosecuted, urging members of the public to support the police by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other security agencies.
