The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an urgent appeal to the public for assistance in identifying a young boy who was the victim of a suspected hit-and-run incident in Abuja.

According to the Command, the boy, believed to be between 12 and 15 years old was discovered unconscious at the Apo Roundabout transformer area around 8 p.m. on December 10.

The Police noted that two passersby, identified as Naziru Ibrahim and Ibrahim Mohammed, found him lying on the ground and immediately rushed him to Sahad Hospital in Apo Resettlement, where he is currently receiving medical care.

The Command said the boy has remained unconscious since he was admitted.

It confirmed that preliminary investigations are underway, including efforts to determine the victim’s identity and locate his family or guardians.

However, with no identification documents found on him and no relatives yet traced, police are turning to the public for help.

Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Friday urged residents to come forward with any information that may help authorities identify the child and reunite him with his family.

The Police appealed to anyone who may recognise the boy or have relevant information about his whereabouts prior to the incident to reach out immediately.

“Members of the public can contact the FCT Police Command PRO via 07038979348 or report at the nearest police station”, it added.

The Police Command also commended the Good Samaritans whose quick intervention ensured the victim received prompt medical attention.
