The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the safe rescue of a woman, Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted by kidnappers in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victims regained their freedom following a coordinated intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

According to the police, Adegoke and her children were kidnapped on the morning of June 3 while she was driving the twins to school in Ibadan.

The abduction occurred at about 7:30 a.m., sparking an intensive manhunt by security operatives.

In a statement issued by Anthony Placid, Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police, the rescue operation was successfully executed at approximately 7:30 p.m. after days of sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical tracking of the kidnappers.

The police said investigators meticulously monitored the movements of the criminal gang, leading operatives to the kidnappers’ hideout, where a confrontation ensued.

During the operation, two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate were fatally wounded in an exchange of gunfire with FID-IRT personnel.

Security operatives also recovered two rifles from the suspects.

“The victims were rescued unharmed and immediately taken into protective custody, where they are currently receiving medical attention and necessary support following their ordeal”, the Police added.

Olatunji Disu, Inspector-General of Police, commended the professionalism, courage, and resilience displayed by the FID-IRT operatives and other officers involved in the operation.

He noted that their dedication and tactical efficiency were instrumental in ensuring the safe recovery of the hostages without harm.

The police also disclosed that efforts have been intensified to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the operation.

According to the statement, preliminary intelligence reports suggest that some of the fleeing suspects sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation.

Security agencies are currently conducting follow-up operations aimed at tracking down and arresting all individuals connected to the crime.

The Force reiterated its determination to dismantle criminal networks involved in kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country, stressing that no effort would be spared in bringing perpetrators to justice.

The Nigeria Police Force also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation, patience, and support throughout the rescue operation.

The Force assured Nigerians that it would continue deploying intelligence-driven and tactical measures to combat insecurity and enhance public safety nationwide.
