The Delta State Police Command has arrested 270 criminal suspects in the Warri and Ughelili axes of Delta State, including drugs traffickers and wanted drug dealers.
The coordinated raid which took place on March 25 and 26, 2026 also led to the recovering of large quantities of illicit drugs.
The exercise was conducted under the leadership of Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in the Command.
The Command revealed in a statement by Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer at the weekend that all the suspects arrested were duly screened.
Edafe said those not found wanting or indicted were released while others were currently in custody, in good condition.
The Vommand debunked an allegation by that one of the arrested suspects has died in custody at the Ekpan Police Station.
Edafe stressed that no casualty was recorded, noting that the news circulating that a detainee died in Delta Police custody was false and an attempt to discourage the command from crime–fighting in the state.
“The Command views the deliberate spread of such misinformation as reckless and capable of misleading the public, undermining confidence in law enforcement, and distracting ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements”, he stated.
He said that while recognising the place of civil engagement, the command would not tolerate individuals who operate under the guise of activism or blogging to peddle false and misleading narratives against the Police.
The Command warned that any individual found publishing or circulating false information against the police would be investigated, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“The Commissioner of Police reiterates that the command remains resolute and undeterred in its constitutional responsibility to safeguard lives and property and ensure that residents of Delta State continue to live in safety and peace.
“Members of the public should disregard the said publication and rely only on official channels for credible information.
“The Delta State Police Command remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and the protection of all citizens”, the statement concluded.
