The Plateau State Police Command says it has neutralised a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle during an operation in Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), on behalf of Bassey Ewah, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command and made available to Journalists on Thursday in Jos.
“The Command, as part of sustained efforts to curb crime and criminality, has recorded another operational success against armed kidnappers operating within Mangu axis,” the statement said.

According to the Command, the incident occurred on Wednesday, at about 5:30pm when police detectives from Gindiri Division, while on the trail of suspected criminals in Changal Village, Gindiri District, came under attack.
“Our operatives responded professionally to the attack, leading to a gun duel in which one suspect was neutralised, while others fled and were later arrested,” the statement added.
The command added that one of the suspects reportedly sustained a leg fracture while attempting to escape and was taken to hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention under security watch.
It said exhibits recovered from the suspects include one AK-47 rifle loaded with sixteen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and a Redmi mobile phone allegedly belonging to one of their victims, while the case has been transferred to the Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
