The Plateau State Police Command has uncovered an abandoned vehicle loaded with 500 rounds of live ammunition in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
The discovery, made during a late-night raid on April 5, 2025, was described as a significant stride in the Command’s ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the state.
Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, the commissioner of police, Plateau state command, disclosed the development during a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters on Wednesday Jos.

He said the raid was based on credible intelligence which led operatives to a criminal hideout along Bauchi Road, where they found an ash-coloured Golf Wagon with registration number JJN 812 AH.
“A thorough search of the abandoned vehicle led to the recovery of 500 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition,” CP Adesina announced.
He added that the ammunition was believed to be intended for use by criminal elements to perpetrate violence and threaten the peace of the state.
The CP revealed that the ammunition recovery is linked to an ongoing investigation into a culpable homicide case reported on April 3, 2025, involving the killing of an unidentified person.
