The Police in Anambra State on Monday paraded one Ernest Chinwe Okoye (aka IBB) as the second suspect in the alleged killing of Frank Igboka, president-general of Nimo, Anambra.
Later Igboka was also a former member of Anambra State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2006.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Mustapha Dandaura who paraded the suspect at the Command’s Headquarters, Amawbia near Awka said Okoye was arrested three days after the parade of Aniegbu at a hideout in Awka.
“Last week Monday, April, 29, 2019, I paraded one of the kingpin who actively participated in the dastardly act and declared three others wanted.
“I also assure Anambra People that the Command under my watch will not relent in it’s efforts until it gets all the remaining perpetrators apprehended and bring them to Justice.
“It would also be recalled that in the same vein, His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano increased the reward to N5 million on each of the three suspects declared wanted in order to fastrack Police investigation.
“In view of the foregoing and following credible intelligence report, the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) had on Friday May 3, 2019 at about 7:30pm arrested the second Principal suspect one Okoye Ernest Chinwe aka (IBB) ‘m’ aged 34 years of Obosi community in Anambra,” he said.
Dandaura said the second suspect was initially concealed and later mentioned by the first suspect following discreet investigation.
“The suspect was traced and arrested in his hideout at old INEC Road Awka”, the CP said.
The police cop added that upon interrogation, Okoye confessed of being among the gang members that shot and killed Igboka, the president-general of Nimo on April 16, 2019.
He said the suspect is now assisting the Police with useful information that could lead to unveiling the circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest of other fleeing accomplices.
Dandaura said one major factor for the overall success of the operations was the support of Gov. Obiano and the good people of Anambra State who were observed to have been very cooperative with the Law enforcement agencies.
He urged the people to sustain this level of cooperation with the Police, assuring that the command would not rest until the fleeing members of the gang are arrested.
