The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspected Sara-Suka cult members and recovered dangerous weapons alongside suspected illegal substances in separate operations in Jos.
In a statement signed by Alfred Alabo, the spokesperson of the command and made available to Journalists on Wednesday in Jos said the arrests were part of efforts by the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, to curb criminal activities and substance abuse across the state.
“As part of efforts put in place by the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Bassey Ewah, to curb criminal activities and the intake of illegal substances across the State, the Command has recorded another breakthrough in the fight against crime and criminality,” the statement said.
The statement disclosed that police detectives attached to the Anti-Cyber Crime and Narcotics Unit arrested 18-year-old Adam Abdullahi of Yen Siminti, Rikkos, at Gengere with a double-edged knife, cult-related attires and substances suspected to be Crystal Methamphetamine, also known as “ice.”
It added that officers attached to Angwan Rogo Division also arrested 20-year-old Khalifa Yusuf of Angwan Rimi at the 011 Prayer Ground opposite the University of Jos Permanent Site with a knife and dry leaves suspected to be cannabis, noting that both suspects were in custody undergoing investigation and would be charged to court after investigations.
