Oyo Police partner, begin night patrol with other security agencies

Due to emerging security challenges across the State, Oyo State Police Command in collaboration with other Security Agencies have intensified efforts at protecting lives and property, as well as sustenance of public peace and order.

The Oyo State Police Command, in compliance with the directive of the Force Headquarters, wishes to reassure residents and the good people of Oyo State of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, as well as the sustenance of public peace and order across the State.

In furtherance of a coordinated and intelligence-driven security framework, the Command has continued to work in close synergy with other security agencies through joint operations and information sharing.

Ayanlade Olayinka, Deputy superintendent of Police and Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO in a statement, said the ongoing Joint Night Patrol initiative, codenamed “Convoy Patrol,” comprising all relevant security agencies, has significantly strengthened collective capacity, ensuring a formidable and unified response to both current and emerging security challenges across the State.

He also stated that the Command had emplaced robust and proactive security measures designed to prevent crime, respond swiftly to emergencies, and address any emerging threats.

“These measures include enhanced visibility policing across the State, with patrol vehicles and operational assets strategically positioned in key locations to ensure rapid response to incidents. Consequently, response time to distress calls and crime scenes has been significantly improved.

“Recognising the critical role of the public in effective policing, the Command has intensified community engagement efforts with particular emphasis on community leaders, traditional institutions, and residents of border communities.”

The strategic engagement, he pointed out, is aimed at ensuring timely and accurate information flow, especially in reporting suspicious or unusual movements within their localities.

The Command urges these stakeholders to promptly relay credible intelligence through the established emergency channels or directly to designated senior officers, thereby enhancing proactive crime prevention and swift intervention.

While the security situation across the State remains under firm control, the public is enjoined to remain vigilant and security conscious at all times.

While however advising nsing members of the public to make use of emergency numbers in the event of any distress situation for prompt and effective response, also cautioned against the dissemination of false, misleading, or unverified information capable of inciting fear or causing unnecessary panic.

“Such acts will attract appropriate legal sanctions. Members of the public are therefore encouraged to rely solely on official communication channels for credible and timely updates.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, appreciates the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu for his unwavering support and strategic leadership. The CP further calls on all residents to continue to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies in sustaining peace and security across Oyo State.
