Oyo govt inaugurates Alaafin Oyo’s coronation committee

The Oyo State Government on Monday inaugurated the Committee set up for the coronation ceremony of Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo.

Dotun Oyelade, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, in a statement, said the inaugural meeting was presided over by Ademola Ojo, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

Among the Committee members, are four members of the Oyo State Executive Council, including, Musibau Babatunde, Professor and Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning; Wasiu Olatunbosun, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Ademola Ojo, Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters; and Dotun Oyelade, Commissioner for Information and Orientation.

Other members are three House of Assembly members from Oyo Constituency, including Gbenga Oyekola from Atiba State Constituency; Rahman Olorunpoto from Oyo East/Oyo West Constituency and Oladeji Oparinde from Afijio Constituency.

According to the Commissioner, Akeem Olukitibi, the Chairman of Oyo West Local Government; Wahab Adetunji, Chairman,Atiba Local Government; Sola Oluokun, Chairman of Oyo East Local Government; Olufemi Aikomo, Chairman Afijio Local Government; Seven family members of the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, religious leaders and other stakeholders are also in the Committee.
