Oyo begins multi-linear budgeting system

Oyo State Commissioner for budget and economic planning, Adeniyi Farinto has said the state plans to commence a multilinear budgeting process by 2022 which caters for three fiscal years revenue and expenditure.

“This means that the introduction of a multi-linear budget will cater for a three-year budget which will be reviewed from time to time,” Farinto said at a one-day capacity building on budget, monitoring, and evaluation held in Ibadan.

Consequently, the state has started training session for budget officers in ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in the state which was health to evaluate the immediate past budget (2020) and to adequately plan towards the coming years’ budgets.

Farinto, who was represented by the permanent secretary for budget and economic planning, Mofoluke Adebiyi, noted that the budgeting process has taken a new dimension in Oyo State.

Adeniyi said the state was almost rounding off on the preparation of the medium-term expenditure framework, from which future annual budgets will be derived.
