The Osun State Local Government election commenced in various areas today, with security personnel deployed to strategic locations to maintain order. Many residents are seen going about their usual weekend chores while few movements of people were noticed.

Speaking after casting a vote at Ede, Governor Ademola Adeleke commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the rule of law which enabled the ongoing local government election across the State.

Adeleke said the President is a true democrat with huge democratic credentials, submitting that his administration has all along been very supportive and collaborative with the federal government. The governor also denied a fake news article in a publication about alleged remarks on President Tinubu, submitting that the news is fake as he did not at any point utter any negative remarks about the President.

The governor, who arrived at his polling unit in Sagba/Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, Ede, was accredited before exercising his civic duty. He described the election as peaceful and in line with due process.

Adeleke who commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) for a job well done, urged all eligible voters to exercise their franchise peacefully. He emphasized the importance of grassroots democracy and called on the people to participate actively without fear or intimidation.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filling this report, the election has concluded in some areas. The election has concluded in Alajue 1, Ward Unit 8, Alajue 1 Ward 4 Unit 20, Alajue 1 Ward 4 Unit 10 Seventh Day School, Polling Unit 19 and 20 Ward 4 Osogbo LG, Polling Unit 19 and 20, Ward 4 Osogbo LG.
