Osun APC peddling lies, Adeleke never used Amotekun for family business campaign

The campaign council insisted that Adeleke neither collects security votes nor uses the state-backed security outfit to protect family businesses, contrary to claims by the APC.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the council’s spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said the allegations amounted to “dark propaganda” designed to mislead the public and undermine the governor’s achievements in office.

“It is on record that Governor Adeleke has never taken security votes since he assumed office in 2022. The opposition knows this, but bitterness will not allow them to acknowledge the truth,” Olajengbesi said.

He argued that rather than diverting public resources for personal gain, the governor had deployed state funds to strengthen security infrastructure and improve public safety across Osun State.

Olajengbesi also dismissed claims that the Amotekun Corps had been assigned to protect Adeleke’s family businesses, maintaining that the security outfit remains dedicated to safeguarding residents and combating crime across the state.

According to him, the administration has made substantial investments in the corps, including the construction of a modern operational headquarters and the recruitment of more than 1,100 new cadets to bolster security operations.

He further stated that hundreds of operational vehicles and motorcycles had been added to the corps’ fleet to improve mobility and enhance response to security threats.

The campaign spokesman said the governor’s commitment to transparency and prudent management of public resources had earned recognition from independent organisations. He cited a fiscal transparency assessment by BudgIT Nigeria, which reportedly awarded the Adeleke administration a perfect score in its 2025 third-quarter fiscal transparency report.

Olajengbesi also highlighted the government’s record on workers’ welfare, noting that civil servants and Amotekun personnel have consistently received their salaries without delay since Adeleke assumed office.

Aiming at critics within the APC, he accused federal lawmaker Wole Oke of engaging in misinformation and political grandstanding. He challenged the lawmaker to account for his achievements after more than two decades in the National Assembly rather than attacking the state government.

“The falsehood and dark propaganda spun by Wole Oke are unfortunate and unbecoming of a federal lawmaker who is expected to conduct himself honourably,” he said.

The council warned politicians against dragging the Amotekun Corps into partisan battles, stressing that the security outfit should be allowed to focus on addressing the state’s security challenges.

As campaigning gathers momentum ahead of the August governorship election, the Adeleke campaign expressed confidence that voters would renew the governor’s mandate, citing infrastructure development, improved public services and security investments as reasons for a second term.
