Ondo deputy governor, Adelami tasks youths on skill acquisition

Olayide Adelami, the deputy governor of Ondo state, has charged young people in the state to expand their capabilities, to position themselves adequately for the 21st-century job market.

Adelami gave the charge on Tuesday in Akure, while receiving the new executive members of the Joint Campus Committee (JCC) of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ondo state axis,

The deputy governor, who interacted with the student leaders on behalf of the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said “earning a degree certificate is not enough but equipping yourselves with in-demand skills, especially in ICT will give you an edge in the job market”

He assured them of the governor’s unwavering commitment to quality education and promotion of a knowledge economy, which he said “it’s the new oil”

Oluwatobi Joshua, the new chairman of NANS JCC, Ondo axis, who applauded the governor for his strides in education and infrastructure, said “it shows a leader who is truly committed to human capital development”

He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for paying the backlog of salaries owed to staff of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, N1.2bn infrastructure grant given to Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology Okitipupa, payment of N550m WAEC fees, recruitment of 2,000 secondary and primary school teachers, among many others.
