Omah Lay

Nigerian artiste and songwriter, Omah Lay has been confirmed to headline the Forbes Under 30 Summit Africa in Botswana.

He will perform during the four-day summit from May 5, along with American entertainer, Nick Cannon who Forbes announced as a headliner last month.

“With his darkly sparkling vocals, evocative storytelling, and contagious rhythms, Omah Lay is one of Nigeria’s most talked about innovators,” Forbes wrote on their website.

“The 25-year-old singer and producer’s brand of Afro-fusion effortlessly pulls from his deep personal history with West Africa’s percussion-heavy highlife genre, as well as his enthusiasm for the popular sounds of his generation—from classic rap to the Afro-beats empire flourishing in his home base of Lagos,” it added.

This year’s Forbes Under 30 Africa Summit is themed The Engine of Africa’s Economic Growth: Investment & Entrepreneurship and showcases a lineup of 27 speakers from all over Africa which features 6 Nigerians including Peace Itimi, Kennedy Ekezie, Tia Adeola, Bola Adegbulu, Ben Amadasun, and Stanley Omah Didia (Omah Lay).

Omah Lay gained industry spotlight in 2020 as a youngster in Port Harcourt after the release of his EP “What Have We Done,” his debut under Warner Music Group, and his single “Bad Influence,” which quickly grew his popularity and listening in Nigeria and overseas.

Previous editions of the summit have featured other successful Nigerian Afrobeats artists including Davido and Fireboy DML headlining the event, which has been domiciled in Gaborone, Botswana since its inception in 2022.

The annual summit, which converges government officials, venture capitalists, CEOs and celebrities will focus on spotlighting Africa’s greatest business stories and biggest opportunities, and on the investors and founders who are forging new paths forward.
