The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences has withdrawn a disciplinary query issued to student nurse Osato Edobor following the intervention of Joseph Onojaeme, the state’s commissioner for health.

In a letter dated March 28, 2025, and signed by the college’s provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, the institution stated that the commissioner had directed the school authorities to rescind the query issued on March 27.

Edobor has been instructed to return the query letter through the student affairs officer to the office of the provost. The school also expressed regret over any inconvenience the matter may have caused the state.

The initial disciplinary action against Edobor stemmed from her alleged posting of an “unauthorised” video during the visit of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to Delta State.

The college’s response follows the viral video showing a group of students at the event rejecting the first lady’s designation as their “mother.”

When the event’s Master of Ceremony introduced Oluremi Tinubu, singing “Na our mama be dis o we no get anoda one” meaning “This is our mother, we don’t have another one”, the students responded in unison, “Na your mama be this,” meaning “This is your mother.”

The video has since generated a lot of reactions online, with many linking the students’ reaction to frustration over economic hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
