The Community Development Committee (CDC) of Arepo, Ogun State, has urged residents to prioritise vigilance and enhance security measures following the abduction of the wife of retired assistant inspector general of police, Hakeem Odumosu.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, saw heavily armed kidnappers storming Voera Estate, shooting into the air before abducting Mrs. Odumosu from her residence.

In a circular issued on Saturday, the Arepo CDC advised all Community Development Associations (CDAs) within the area to take immediate steps to prevent further breaches.

“We write to inform you of a kidnapping incident that occurred in Voera Estate yesterday night. Authorities, including police from Wawa, Ibafo, and Mowe, as well as soldiers, have been working to rescue the kidnapped woman since the incident happened.

“In light of this, we urge all CDAs in Arepo to be vigilant and strengthen security measures in their respective estates. Please position your security personnel strategically to prevent any potential security breaches,” the circular read.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, revealed that swift actions were taken to locate and rescue the victim.

Odutola added that the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, had been briefed and deployed covert operations and digital intelligence to ensure the victim is rescued unharmed.

“Information was received regarding the kidnapping of Mrs. Odumosu, a female resident of Aminu Street, Arepo, Ogun State.

“Reports indicate that she was about to enter her home when four masked men attacked her, dragged her from her LEXUS Jeep, and took her through swampy areas to an unknown location,” Odutola said.

Residents of Arepo have been urged to remain alert and work closely with security operatives to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
