The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has raised an alarm over the emergence of fraudulent online platforms collecting payments for train tickets through personal bank accounts.

In a statement on Tuesday, Callistus Unyimadu, the NRC’s chief public relations officer, said the corporation has no ties to the platforms and urged the public to avoid them entirely.

“These platforms are not affiliated with the NRC, and any payment made through such channels is done at the victim’s risk,” he said.

Unyimadu warned passengers never to pay into personal or unverified accounts when booking train trips. He listed the only authorised booking portals as:

  • Warri-Itakpe Train Service (WITS): https://nrc-fane.ng
  • Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS): https://nrc.tps.ng
  • Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS): https://nrc.gsds.ng

The NRC advised passengers to always confirm booking sites through its official website, www.nrc.gov.ng, or call its customer service centres.

Unyimadu added that the corporation is working with security agencies to investigate and prosecute those behind the scam.

“We remain committed to ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all our esteemed passengers,” he said.
